Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association donated items and letters to Hugs. The HUGS Project collects goods, utensils, and other items to send to our service men and woman who help protect us and help protect our freedom and way of life. Also, each student and parent wrote a personalized letter of support and thanks to our military personnel. Rydge Lytle, The Lewis Institute Youth Group President, along with the entire youth group, did an outstanding job for this event! Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association donated stuffed animals to The Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. These stuffed animals are for the children who come to the center for abuse or neglect. These may be the only real toys these children have. They show them a sense of relief and comfort on their journey to a happier life. The employees at the Civic Center were amazed with how many stuffed animals Lewis Institute was able to donate. Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association donated canned goods to RIFA of Jackson, TN. RIFA helps the over 12,000 people in the Jackson community who battle with hunger each and everyday. This year, our Youth Group wanted to reach out and help for the Christmas season. Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association donated toys to Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots is a program by the Marines that helps get toys to children at Christmas time whose families could not otherwise afford to get presents to them. The Youth Group loved doing this donation because they said it made them feel good to be able to help kids just like them, who just might not be as fortunate. Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently donated various goods, foods, and other articles to The Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House supplies parents and relatives of sick children and individuals with a place to stay when children are in the hospital for an extended period of time. Students, Parents, Instructors, Family, and Friends recently came together and donated over 100 blankets for Nate's Wish. Nate's Wish was created to provide encouragement to children newly diagnosed with cancer. Nate died at the age of 10 with cancer, and his wish was to help children from all walks of life to have backpacks with blankets and many other various articles for sick children. Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association Youth Group donated the blankets for this great and worthy cause. Recently the Lewis Institute Youth Group collected toys and crafts for St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN, Le Bonheur's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN, and Nate's Wish in Nashville, TN. The Group was successful in collecting and donating over $3,000 worth of toys and craft items to the three organizations.
